Amazonite (also known as Amazonstone) is a translucent to opaque green or blue-green variety of microcline, a potassium feldspar mineral. Named after the Amazon River, no actual deposits have been confirmed in the river itself; its distinct coloration stems from trace amounts of lead and water integrated into its crystal structure.
